The Scenaris TEEMS Contingency Planning Method
The fastest and most economical method for producing contingency plans which not only work from the outset, they have also been exercised by the people who will have to use them - before the first draft has been produced.
The Scenaris approach - TEEMS
TEEMS stands for Testing and Exercising Emergency Management Skills – it is at the heart of the Scenaris culture, which is, that without such management skills, emergency plans are more of a hindrance than a help.
TEEMS is based on our belief that if you present a group of intelligent experienced managers who have no contingency plans at their disposal with a fictitious but realistic emergency situation, and talk them through how they would deal with and recover from that particular problem, then the thought processes and actions which they describe will define the most effective emergency plan for their business.
This simple theory works, extremely well, and here is an outline:
We will work with you to determine a suitable tabletop management exercise.
You will identify a group of senior people including your chief executive, whoever is in charge of the firm’s IT, whoever is in charge of human resources, etc. In other words that group of people who would probably form an emergency management team in the event of any crisis situation.
We will then sit them around a table and present them with the scenario as if it was for real; we will then outline what has happened, and we will in effect “drop” them into the situation at a precise time on a precise date.
We as facilitators will keep copious notes of issues, decisions, anything which will have an impact on the resulting plan. We will ask your team to do likewise. We will also ask that you have a minute-taker present.
As the scenario unfolds, we will present your team with fresh developments, which they will have to take into consideration, exactly as would happen in a real situation.
